Weekend Regattas
For the spring season, the high school team competes nearly every weekend from the beginning of March until the middle of May. Fall season includes regattas in a variety of boats, resulting in fewer events for the whole team. Current season schedule can be found on the Registration Page.
While attendance at these regattas isn't strictly mandatory, it is the point of the sailing team. Those sailors who attend most or all of the regattas learn and improve far more than those who miss regattas. Recommendations for parents in regards to team travel can be found here.
Sailing Gear
Although the weather is warm when we start Fall season, it quickly cools off toward the middle to end of the Fall season, and is often quite cold when we begin the Spring season in February. Sailors need a PFD and layers to stay safe, warm, flexible, and active.
The Scholastic Sailing Apparel Guide on West Coast Sailing’s Website is a good reference for the gear sailors need. You might find local vendors with less expensive options (REI, West Marine, Sportsman's Warehouse, Longship Marine Consignment, Olympic Outdoor Center (kayaking gear is very similar). Let us know if you are having difficulty sourcing gear for your sailor and we will try to help.
The Kitsap Sailing Team Store has logo gear available for individual purchase.
Team Coaches will order team pinnies at the beginning of each season as needed.
